Mari Maeda's biography

Born in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture in 1963. After opening "Mari's Art Class" for young children, she began working as an illustrator and painter in 1989. Her work was used to create the image illustration for Shibuya Seibu's autumn event, which was displayed throughout the entire building. She has illustrated cats that appear in the studio exhibition for TBS's "Hanamaru Market" and in the program for the Shiki Theatre Company's musical "Cats." She has also created cover illustrations for books and jazz CDs, and has drawn for television programs and video teaching materials for young children, as well as monthly magazines. She has appeared on TOKYO FM, MUSIC BIRD, and J-WAVE programs as a jazz and cat lover. Since 2015, she has written a series of pictures and text for the Hokuriku Chunichi Shimbun newspaper for five years, titled "Memories of the City," in which she describes her memories of her hometown, Kanazawa. His books include "New York Cat Picture Book" (Asuka Shinsha), "Torakichi's Tokyo Stroll" (Tokyo Shoseki), "Cats Love Jazz" (Shobunsha) , and "Hat Pyoko" (Fukuinkan Shoten/Bolimsha Korea), and he has co-authored "The Cabbage Book" (Nobunkyo), "Torakichi's Adventure" (Fukuinkan Shoten), "Hako-chan's Box" (Iwasaki Shoten/Shinsekai Shuppansha China), and "Piyo Piyo Piyo-chan" (Doshinsha), among others. He has held solo exhibitions at Matsuya Ginza "Asobi no Gallery", Dentsu "Ad Gallery", Ginza Kabutoya Gallery, and various other venues.
